Gairmean is a local voice intercom and Wi-Fi signal tool. It supports face-to-face introductions and a signed group path where an officer approves each joining phone. This policy explains the information kept on a phone, what travels between phones, and what reaches the developer.
Information stored on your phone
The app stores your chosen phone name, a generated cryptographic identity, introduced phones and their keys, their last working local addresses, blocked-phone choices, recent call outcomes and durations, named signal readings, and settings. These records are kept in the app's private storage. Identity and household records are encrypted using Android Keystore. An optional app PIN is stored as a salted hash; the app does not store the PIN itself. Android handles biometric authentication and does not give Gairmean your fingerprint or face data.
Gairmean keeps up to six introduced phones, 60 recent-call records, and 30 saved signal readings. Group membership can include more phones, while a call supports at most six other phones. Group certificates, signed membership updates and removal entries are kept in encrypted app storage. Older history and readings are replaced when those limits are reached. Gairmean does not record or retain call audio.
What travels between phones
Receiving calls requires local discovery. While receiving is enabled, a generated public device identifier and local network address may be visible to devices on that network. While you explicitly open introductions, your chosen phone name and public identity are exchanged with nearby devices. Group discovery also advertises the group public identity. Group joins and signed membership rolls, including names, keys and removal entries, are exchanged in encrypted local messages with officers and members. Discovery and the first introduction messages are not encrypted. Do not use a sensitive or identifying name.
For a face-to-face introduction, both people compare six digits before accepting. In a group, the joiner shows a six-digit approval code and an officer approves the signed membership certificate. Group rolls and removals travel only between local members. Introduced phones exchange authenticated, encrypted call requests, availability checks, and battery/link-quality values used to choose the group-call mixer. Call audio is encrypted between participants. A group participant selected as the mixer processes the voices of that call; participants must be introduced to each other or hold valid membership in the same group. Participants can hear the call and may independently record or disclose what they hear outside Gairmean's control.
Calls travel through the local Wi-Fi network or a supported Wi-Fi Direct connection. Gairmean has no developer-operated relay, account server, advertising service, analytics service, or remote crash-reporting SDK. The developer cannot listen to calls or remotely read household records.
Wi-Fi readings
The signal board reads Android's Wi-Fi signal, local address, router information and network-validation status. It may check local router ports to distinguish a responding router from internet availability. It does not request your GPS coordinates. Saved room labels and signal readings remain on the phone.
Permissions and background operation
- Camera: requested only when you choose to scan a group join QR; QR frames are processed for the join and not stored.
- Microphone: requested when you place or answer a call; audio capture stops when the call ends.
- Nearby Wi-Fi devices: on Android 13 and later, used for Wi-Fi Direct discovery and connection attempts. On Android 12L and earlier, Android requires foreground location permission and enabled location services for this Wi-Fi feature. Gairmean does not collect a location history or request background location.
- Notifications and full-screen calling: used to show incoming household calls and ongoing receiving/call status. Availability depends on Android and your settings.
- Network and Wi-Fi access: needed for local discovery, connections and audio. Android names the socket permission INTERNET even when sockets are used on a local network.
- Foreground services, wake/Wi-Fi locks, battery exception and boot reception: keep an enabled listener available for household calls. Only an explicitly placed or answered call uses the microphone service. You may pause receiving. Android and device-maker power controls can still delay or stop calls; a user-force-stopped app requires user interaction to run again.
- Vibration and audio settings: provide ringing and route call sound to the chosen speaker or earpiece.
Feedback and safety reports
Feedback and reporting open a draft in your own email app addressed to www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com. You decide whether to send it. A draft can contain the message you enter, an optional reply address, and app/device-version information shown in the draft. If you send it, your email provider delivers it and the developer receives the email, sender address and included information to respond or investigate. Do not attach recordings or identifying details about a child. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to address the request, maintain necessary safety records, or meet legal obligations.
Your choices and deletion
You can block or forget a phone, clear recent calls and saved readings, pause receiving, change permissions, or use Settings → Your data → Delete data. Resetting removes introductions, group membership, locally held group signing material, history, readings and access settings from this installation. The generated device identity remains until Android app storage is cleared or the app is uninstalled. These actions cannot erase a record another participant has saved on their own phone. Device backup and Android device-to-device transfer are disabled for this app's data.
No online account exists to delete. To request deletion of support correspondence you sent, email www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com with the subject “Gairmean data deletion”. The developer may need to verify control of the email address and may retain records where legally required.
Children and household safety
Gairmean is intended for household members to communicate with people they know. Adults should oversee introductions involving children. Child sexual abuse and exploitation, grooming, harassment and sexual content involving children are prohibited. See our separate Child Safety Standards for reporting and enforcement. Household alerts do not contact emergency services.

Opening the developer website, a policy page, or an app-store link uses your browser or store app and their own privacy practices. This policy will be updated if Gairmean's data handling changes. The effective date above identifies this version.
