Privacy Policy - Murmur

1. Who We Are

Murmur is provided by Saifullah Ahad. This policy explains what information is handled when you use Murmur, an off-grid encrypted mesh messenger.

2. What Murmur Does

Murmur lets nearby devices exchange encrypted messages over Bluetooth LE, with optional Wi-Fi Direct. It does not require an account, SIM card, internet connection, or developer-run messaging server for core chat delivery.

3. Data Stored On Your Device

• Identity key: Murmur creates an encryption identity on your device. The private key stays on your device.
• Contacts: Contact names and Murmur addresses you add are stored locally.
• Messages: Message history and relay data are stored locally so Murmur can deliver and display conversations.
• Settings: Mesh and transport preferences are stored locally.

4. Data Sent By Core Messaging

When you send a message, Murmur transmits encrypted message packets to nearby devices as part of the mesh. Relaying devices may carry ciphertext so messages can reach the intended contact, but they cannot read the message contents.

5. Optional Feedback

If you choose to send feedback from the app, Murmur sends your message, optional email address, app version, Android version, and device model over HTTPS to Web3Forms, which forwards the feedback to the developer inbox. This is used only for app support and improvement.

6. Permissions

• Nearby devices / Bluetooth: Used to discover and exchange mesh packets with nearby phones.
• Wi-Fi state / nearby Wi-Fi devices: Used only when optional Wi-Fi Direct transport is enabled.
• Notifications: Used to show mesh relay status while the app keeps the radio active.
• Internet: Used only for optional feedback and links opened by the user.
• Location on older Android versions: Required by Android for Bluetooth scanning on older devices; Murmur does not use GPS location tracking.

7. Data Sharing

Murmur does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. Optional feedback is processed by Web3Forms as an email relay. Core chat packets are user-directed communications between devices, not developer-server uploads.

8. Retention And Deletion

Core Murmur data is stored on your device. You can delete it by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app. To request deletion of feedback you sent by email relay, contact www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com.

9. Children

Murmur is not directed to children. If you believe a child sent personal information through the feedback feature, contact us and we will delete that correspondence.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when Murmur changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
