This privacy policy explains how Moat handles your data. Moat is an on-device firewall that blocks internet access per app and filters out trackers using a local VPN service. We believe privacy is a fundamental right. Moat operates entirely on your device and does not route your traffic to any external server.

2. Data We Collect (and Data We Do NOT Collect)

Because Moat operates as a local firewall, we collect virtually no data. Specifically:

• Installed Apps: Moat requests the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission to show you a list of apps installed on your device so you can choose which ones to block. This list is processed locally on your device and is never sent to us or any third party.
• Internet Traffic: Moat uses Android's VpnService to intercept network connections and apply your firewall rules. Your traffic never leaves your device. It is filtered locally. We do not collect, store, or monitor your browsing history, DNS queries, or app data.
• No Analytics or Ads: We do not use advertising IDs, crashlytics, or usage analytics SDKs.

3. How We Use the Data

The list of your installed apps is used strictly within the app interface to allow you to toggle network access on or off for specific applications. It is not used for any other purpose.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any of your personal information or device data. If you choose to use the in-app "Send Feedback" feature, your message (and optional email address) is securely transmitted via Web3Forms strictly so we can read and reply to your feedback. It is not shared for marketing purposes.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Since we do not store your data on any server, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. All of Moat's settings and blocklists reside in your device's local storage. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app's data in your Android settings or by uninstalling Moat.

6. Send Feedback Feature

Moat includes an optional feature to send feedback or bug reports. If you use it, you may optionally provide an email address. This email is only used to reply to your inquiry and is securely processed through Web3Forms. It is never added to a mailing list.

7. Children's Privacy

Moat does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. It is a utility designed for general audiences (18+) to manage network connections.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. The updated version will be indicated by the "Effective" date at the top of this page.
