Privacy Policy - Lohkat

Lohkat processes a chosen book-page image and two short voice turns entirely on your device. It has no account, advertising, analytics, cloud upload, or internet access.

1) Who we are

2) What Lohkat does

Lohkat helps a child and parent practise one line from their own book together. The app finds visual line regions without reading or translating the words. It compares local acoustic patterns from the two voice turns and may underline an approximate part of the photographed line for another try. The underline is guidance, not a score or literacy assessment.

3) Data collection and sharing

We do not collect, receive, sell, or share personal data. Lohkat contains no analytics, advertising, authentication, crash-reporting, tracking, or cloud SDK. It does not request the Android INTERNET permission, so it cannot upload app data.

4) Page images

You may photograph one page or choose an image using Android's system picker. The working page image is stored only in Lohkat's private app storage so the same book can be reopened. The image is processed on-device to find lines and visual regions; optical character recognition is not used. Other apps cannot access this private file through Lohkat.

5) Voice processing

The child's short reference recording is held in memory only long enough for immediate playback and conversion into non-reversible acoustic features.
Only those local acoustic features are retained for the selected line. They cannot be played back as speech.
The parent's attempt is processed in memory, compared locally, and discarded immediately after analysis.
No raw voice recording is uploaded, shared, or kept as an audio file.

6) Permissions

Camera: requested only when you choose “Photograph a page.”
Microphone: requested only when a child or parent starts a voice turn.

You can deny or revoke either permission in Android Settings. Choosing an existing image remains available without camera access; voice comparison requires microphone access.

7) Local storage and deletion

Lohkat stores the current page image, detected visual line geometry, non-reversible child-reference features, and small recurrence markers in private local storage. “Clear this book” in the About screen removes them together. Clearing app storage or uninstalling Lohkat also removes all app data. We have no server copy to retrieve or delete.

8) Children's privacy

Lohkat is designed for a child and parent to use together on a shared device. It does not create child profiles, request names or ages, enable communication or public sharing, or collect information from children or adults.

9) Security and international transfers

App content stays in Android's private on-device storage. Because Lohkat has no network data flow and we do not receive the content, there are no server-side transfers or international data transfers.

10) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The current version will remain at privacy.saifullah.ai/lohkat.html with a revised effective date.
