Privacy Policy - LitWeave
Plain-language summary: LitWeave works without an account, advertising, analytics, or a developer backend. A search term or DOI is sent directly to Crossref or Unpaywall when needed for the feature you choose. Saved papers, notes, tags, and comparison selections stay in private app storage.
1) Who we are
LitWeave is provided by Saifullah Ahad ("we", "us", "our"). Our portfolio is saifullah.ai.
Email: www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
2) What LitWeave does
LitWeave helps people search scholarly metadata, inspect DOI records, trace deposited references, check listed open-access locations, save evidence, write private notes, and compare selected papers. LitWeave is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Crossref, Unpaywall, publishers, universities, or research institutions.
3) Information sent to scholarly services
LitWeave sends data only after a feature needs current scholarly information:
- a search term plus the year, work-type, sort, and page choices you select is sent to Crossref;
- a DOI is sent to Crossref when you open a dossier or resolve deposited references; and
- a DOI is sent to Unpaywall when LitWeave checks for a listed open-access location.
Requests use HTTPS. Like other internet requests, Crossref and Unpaywall can receive standard network information such as your IP address. Saifullah Ahad does not operate these services, receive the requests, or keep a developer-side search history. Their handling is governed by the Crossref privacy policy and Unpaywall privacy policy.
4) Information stored locally
LitWeave can keep the following inside the app's private storage on your device:
- successful search results cached for up to seven days;
- paper records you choose to save;
- private notes and tags you add; and
- temporary comparison selections.
Android cloud backup and device-transfer export are disabled for LitWeave data. Remove an individual saved paper in the app. Clear all data through Android Settings or uninstall LitWeave to remove every local record and cache entry.
5) Information we do not collect
LitWeave has no developer account system and does not collect:
- your name, email address, phone number, or identity;
- precise or approximate device location;
- contacts, photos, health records, files, or payment information;
- advertising identifiers or cross-app activity;
- analytics events, crash reports, or tracking profiles; or
- the papers, notes, tags, or comparison selections stored in LitWeave.
There is no advertising, analytics, authentication, payment, or developer-operated cloud SDK in the app.
6) Permissions
INTERNETretrieves scholarly metadata and open-access status.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATEhelps LitWeave show an appropriate offline state.
LitWeave does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage, notification, health-data, or advertising-ID permission.
7) External links, sharing, and feedback
LitWeave can open a specific DOI page, lawful open-access location, portfolio page, or Play Store page in another app. It can open Android's share sheet for citation text and your email app for feedback. These actions occur only when you choose them. The destination app or website then controls information you send. LitWeave does not upload shared text or email content itself.
8) Security and retention
Network requests use HTTPS and local records use Android app-private storage. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but LitWeave limits data by avoiding accounts, trackers, and a developer backend. We do not retain personal data on developer servers because LitWeave sends none to us.
9) Your choices
- Use broad, non-identifying scholarly search terms if you prefer.
- Remove individual saved papers inside LitWeave.
- Clear all local data in Android Settings > Apps > LitWeave > Storage > Clear storage.
- Uninstall LitWeave to remove its local app data.
- Choose whether to open, share, or email anything outside LitWeave.
10) Research-information notice
LitWeave displays deposited scholarly metadata. It does not generate summaries, decide scientific quality, provide medical advice, confirm peer review, or promise access to a paper. Metadata can be incomplete or change at its source. Verify important information with the publisher and qualified professionals.
11) Children's privacy
LitWeave is a general scholarly research utility and is not directed to children under 13. It has no public profiles, messaging, or user-generated public content and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.
12) International processing
Crossref and Unpaywall may process a request outside your country. LitWeave does not transfer your local saved papers, notes, tags, or comparison selections to the developer or to those services.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when LitWeave's functionality or legal requirements change. The current version will remain available at privacy.saifullah.ai/litweave.html, with the effective date updated above.
14) Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to Saifullah Ahad at www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com.
