Privacy Policy - LisanBridge

Plain-language summary: LisanBridge has no account, ads, analytics, or cloud sentence storage. Your sentences, saved learning library, review history, and optional speaking attempts are handled locally. Internet access is used to download Google ML Kit translation models and for limited ML Kit diagnostics described below.

1) Who we are

2) What LisanBridge does

LisanBridge helps learners turn Bengali or English thoughts into Modern Standard Arabic, listen to Arabic, explore reviewed word information, save sentences and words, practise recall, and optionally record a private speaking attempt for self-comparison.

The app does not create an account or upload your learning library to a LisanBridge server. We do not operate a server that receives this content.

4) Translation and Google ML Kit

LisanBridge includes reviewed starter phrases and uses Google ML Kit on-device translation for other input. ML Kit downloads language models over the internet. After the required model is available, translation is performed on the device. Bengali-to-Arabic draft translation may pass through English.

According to Google's ML Kit data-disclosure documentation, ML Kit may collect diagnostic and operational information such as app and device information, identifiers used for service operation, configuration, performance, model download state, and source/target language settings. Google states that Translation does not send the text being translated or the translation result to its servers.

This app therefore uses Android's INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions. LisanBridge does not use these permissions for advertising, analytics, accounts, or cloud sentence storage.

5) Arabic text-to-speech

Arabic playback is provided by the text-to-speech engine selected on your Android device. LisanBridge passes the Arabic text and speech settings to that system service. The availability of an offline voice varies by device; a voice that requires a network may process text under the text-to-speech provider's own terms. You can inspect or change the selected engine and voice in Android's text-to-speech settings.

6) Microphone and speaking attempts

LisanBridge requests RECORD_AUDIO only after you tap Record, read an in-app explanation, and continue to Android's permission prompt. The app does not record in the background and does not score pronunciation.

A speaking attempt is written to the app's private files only so you can replay and compare it. It is deleted when you discard it or leave speaking practice. If Android interrupts the process before normal cleanup, any remainder is removed when speaking practice is opened again or when you use the in-app erase control. Recordings are excluded from Android backup.

7) Export and sharing

You can export your saved learning library as a JSON file. Android's document picker lets you choose the destination. The app also uses your email or sharing app only when you explicitly choose a feedback or export action. Once shared, the receiving app or storage provider handles that copy under its own privacy policy.

8) Send feedback

The Send feedback control prepares an email in an email app you choose. The draft contains the message you entered, an optional reply address, and a technical footer with the LisanBridge version, Android version, device manufacturer, and device model. Nothing is sent until you review the draft and send it from that email app. LisanBridge does not send feedback to a relay service or server of its own. Your email provider handles the message under its own privacy policy.

9) Android backup and device transfer

If Android backup is enabled for your device, Android may back up the local database and preferences to your own configured backup service or transfer them to another device. Temporary voice recordings and cache files are excluded. Backup handling is controlled by Android and your backup-provider settings.

10) Advertising, analytics, and sale of data

LisanBridge contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, social SDK, or in-app purchases. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app tracking.

Learning data and voice attempts are kept in Android's private app storage. No method of storage is guaranteed to be perfectly secure, so protect access to your device and avoid entering highly sensitive information into machine translation.

13) Children's privacy

LisanBridge is a general language-learning app and is not directed primarily to children under 13. It has no account, public profile, chat, social feed, or user-generated public content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a LisanBridge server because the app has no such server.

14) International processing

Local learning data is not sent to us. Google ML Kit diagnostics, a network-based text-to-speech voice, or a destination you choose for export may be processed in other countries under the relevant provider's terms.

15) Translation safety

Machine-generated drafts can be wrong or miss context. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, religious, immigration, emergency, or other safety-critical decisions.

16) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The current version will remain available at privacy.saifullah.ai/lisanbridge.html, with a revised effective date.
