This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use Ayah Steps (the "App"). The App is an educational tool designed to help users learn the most frequent words of the Quran through flashcards, quizzes, and progress tracking.

Ayah Steps does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with external servers. All data processing and storage happens locally on your device.
The App stores the following data locally on your device using Android's built-in storage mechanisms:
- App settings: Language preference (English/Bengali), learner mode (child/teen/adult), daily word goal, notification preferences. Stored using Android Jetpack DataStore (local preferences file).
- Learning progress: Words marked as learned, bookmarked words, quiz history, daily activity, streak data, and XP points. Stored locally in an on-device SQLite database.
- App state: Whether onboarding has been completed. Stored locally in DataStore.
None of this data leaves your device. The App does not require an internet connection and does not use any network requests.
4) How we use information
- All locally stored data is used solely to provide core app features — tracking your learning progress, showing your streaks, managing bookmarks, and running quizzes.
- No data is analyzed, sold, or shared with any third party.
5) Sharing and disclosure
Ayah Steps does not share any data with third parties.
The App does not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or any third-party services that collect or receive user data.
The App does not contain ads, in-app purchases, or subscriptions.
6) Data retention
All data is stored locally on your device and persists until you choose to clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app will delete all locally stored data.
7) Your choices and controls
- Clear data: You can clear all locally stored app data at any time through Android Settings → Apps → Ayah Steps → Storage → Clear Data.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the app removes all data stored by the app.
- Permissions: The App does not request any sensitive permissions (camera, location, contacts, etc.). It only requires standard storage for local data persistence, handled by Android's built-in mechanisms.
8) Security
All data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard storage mechanisms (SQLite via Room and Jetpack DataStore). No data is transmitted over networks or stored on external servers.
9) Children's privacy
Ayah Steps is an educational app suitable for all ages, including children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), as the app does not collect any personal information from any user.
10) International transfers
Since the App does not transmit any data to external servers, there are no international data transfers.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on our website at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/ayahsteps and update the effective date above.
