Privacy Policy — Sukoon
1) Who we are
Sukoon is provided by Saifullah ("we", "us", "our"), an independent developer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Our portfolio and website: https://saifullah.ai.
Email: www.saifullah.ai@gmail.com
Phone: +8801711134346
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Website: https://saifullah.ai
2) What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Sukoon collects (if any), how it is used,
and the choices you have when you use the Sukoon Android app
(package name: ai.saifullah.sukoon). Sukoon is an offline ambient-sound
mixer for sleep and focus, with a sleep timer.
3) Information we collect
Sukoon works fully offline. Your data stays on your device. The only information that ever leaves your device is a feedback message you actively choose to send (see Section 5b).
Everything you create in the app — your saved sound mixes, selected volumes, sleep-timer choice, and app preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using Android's local DataStore. We do not have access to it. The ambient sounds are bundled inside the app and play locally; no streaming or network connection is needed to use Sukoon.
Sukoon does not collect:
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, device ID)
- Usage analytics or app telemetry
- Automatic or background crash reports
- Location data
- Microphone or any recorded audio
- Payment or financial data
- Advertising identifiers
Sukoon has no analytics SDK (no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no Sentry, no Amplitude), no ad network, no authentication service, and no backend server of our own. The app has internet access only to deliver the optional feedback described in Section 5b; it is not used to track you.
4) How we use information
Since no data leaves your device, we do not use your information for any external purpose. Data stored locally is used exclusively to:
- Play the ambient sounds you select and remember their volumes
- Save and reload your favorite mixes
- Run the sleep timer you set
- Remember your app settings
5) Sharing and disclosure
We never sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing.
We share data with a third party in exactly one case: if you choose to send feedback, your message (and optional email) is delivered through Web3Forms, an email-relay service (see Section 5b). Aside from that, no data is transmitted off your device.
There are no tracking or advertising SDKs in Sukoon. The libraries used are: Media3 / ExoPlayer (local audio playback), DataStore Preferences (local settings), Hilt (dependency injection), Jetpack Compose + Navigation (UI framework), and standard AndroidX libraries. None of these transmit your data externally.
5b) Optional feedback you choose to send
The Settings screen includes a "Send feedback" option. It is entirely optional and user-initiated — nothing is sent unless you type a message and tap Send.
When you send feedback, the following is delivered to the developer:
- Your message text.
- Your email address — only if you choose to provide it (optional; used solely so the developer can reply). Leave it blank to send anonymously.
- A short technical footer to help reproduce bugs: app name, app version, Android version, and device manufacturer + model. No identifiers or contacts are included.
Messages are delivered via Web3Forms (privacy policy: https://web3forms.com/privacy), an email-relay service that forwards the message to the developer's inbox over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We do not store feedback on any server of our own.
6) Permissions — what they are used for
Sukoon requests the following Android permissions:
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK — Required to keep your sounds playing while the screen is off and to show playback controls.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — Required to show the playback-control notification while sounds are playing.
- INTERNET — Used only to deliver the optional feedback you choose to send (Section 5b). It is not used to track you or to stream audio.
Sukoon requests no exact-alarm, location, storage, contacts, microphone, or camera permissions. You can review and change any permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Sukoon → Permissions.
7) Data retention
Your saved mixes and settings are stored locally on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Uninstalling Sukoon removes all locally stored data. No data is retained on our servers because none is ever sent there.
8) Your choices and controls
- Permissions: Allow or deny any permission in Android Settings at any time.
- Data deletion: Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device.
- Saved mixes: You can delete any saved mix from within the app.
9) Security
Sukoon stores your data locally, protected by your device's own storage security (Android sandbox) and, on supported devices, hardware-backed encryption. The only data that leaves your device is feedback you choose to send, which is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We do not operate a server that stores your data.
10) Children's privacy
Sukoon is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect data automatically, this risk is minimal, but parents and guardians are advised to supervise app usage for young children.
11) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when material changes occur (for example, if a new feature introduces a new type of data handling). We will post the updated policy at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/Sukoon and update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
