1) Who we are
Neighbor: ShareNear is provided by SAIFULLAH ("we", "us", "our"). Our website/portfolio is: https://saifullah.ai.
2) What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use Neighbor: ShareNear (the "App").
3) Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information depending on which features you use:
- Phone number: Used for account registration and authentication via Firebase Phone Auth. We send a one-time verification code (OTP) to your phone number.
- Profile information you provide: Your display name, household size, skills, and contact preferences that you enter during profile setup.
- Approximate location: During onboarding, we use GPS (if you grant permission) to detect your neighborhood area. Only the neighborhood-level area name is stored - never your precise coordinates.
- Content you create: Posts (shares, needs, free items), celebrations, meetups, messages, and other content you create within the app.
- Device and technical data: Device model, OS version, app version, and crash information collected by Firebase for reliability purposes.
4) How we use information
- Authenticate your identity and provide access to the app.
- Connect you with neighbors in your verified neighborhood area.
- Display your posts, celebrations, and meetups to your neighborhood community.
- Deliver messages between you and other neighbors.
- Send push notifications for messages, meetup invitations, celebrations, and community activity (configurable in Settings).
- Calculate your community trust score based on your participation.
- Improve app performance and fix issues.
5) Third-party services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication: Phone number verification and user session management. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Cloud Firestore: Cloud storage and sync for community data (posts, messages, meetups, etc.). Firebase Privacy Policy
- Firebase Cloud Storage: Storage for profile photos and media shared in posts and messages. Firebase Privacy Policy
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Push notification delivery. Firebase Privacy Policy
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics tracking services, or data brokers.
6) Data storage and security
Your data is stored in two places: locally on your device in an encrypted database (SQLCipher), and in the cloud via Firebase services. All network communication uses HTTPS encryption in transit. Local data is encrypted at rest on your device.
7) Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Your community content (posts, celebrations, meetups) is visible to other verified neighbors in your neighborhood - this is the core function of the app. Private messages are only visible to conversation participants.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
8) Data retention
We keep your information as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the app's features. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email address below.
9) Your choices and controls
- Location permission: You can deny GPS permission during setup. The app will still work but cannot auto-detect your neighborhood.
- Notification permission: You can deny notification permission or customize which notifications you receive in the app's Settings.
- Map visibility: You can hide yourself from the neighborhood map in Privacy Settings.
- Profile information: You can edit your profile and control what contact information is visible to other neighbors.
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and data by contacting us via email.
10) Permissions used
- INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to sync data with the cloud and communicate with other neighbors.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Used once during onboarding to verify your neighborhood area. You can deny this permission.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to send alerts for messages, meetup invitations, celebrations, and community activity. You can deny or customize this.
- WAKE_LOCK: Used by background sync (WorkManager) to keep data up to date.
11) Children's privacy
Neighbor: ShareNear is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12) International transfers
If you access the app from outside the country where Firebase servers are located, your information may be transferred across borders. We take steps to protect information in accordance with this policy.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/NeighborShareNear and update the effective date above.
