HearWell is designed to be fully offline and privacy-focused. Here is what the app handles:
- Hearing test results: Pure tone audiometry thresholds, speech-in-noise scores, and tinnitus screening results. All stored locally on your device only.
- Calibration data: Headphone calibration profiles stored locally to improve test accuracy.
- User preferences: Settings such as language, test mode, and display preferences stored locally on your device.
- Ambient noise levels: The microphone is used briefly during calibration to detect ambient noise levels. No audio is recorded or stored.
Important: HearWell does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. The app has no internet permission and cannot send data anywhere. All information stays on your device.
4) How we use information
- Display your hearing test results and audiogram charts within the app.
- Generate PDF reports that you can choose to save or share.
- Apply headphone calibration for more consistent test results.
- Remember your language, test mode, and other preferences.
- Detect ambient noise levels during calibration to ensure a quiet testing environment.
5) Sharing and disclosure
We do not share your information with anyone because:
- The app has no internet permission and cannot transmit data.
- There are no analytics SDKs (no Firebase Analytics, no Google Analytics, no crash reporting).
- There are no advertising SDKs or ad networks.
- There are no third-party services that access your data.
- There is no user authentication or account system.
The only way data leaves your device is if you manually choose to share a PDF report using Android's share function.
6) Permissions
HearWell requests the following Android permissions:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): Used solely to detect ambient noise levels during headphone calibration. This helps ensure you are in a quiet environment for accurate test results. The app does not record, store, or transmit any audio.
No other permissions are requested. The app does not access your camera, location, contacts, storage, or any other sensitive data.
7) Data retention
All data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard local storage (Room database, DataStore preferences, and SharedPreferences). Data persists until you choose to delete it. You can delete all test results and calibration data from Settings within the app at any time.
8) Your choices and controls
- Microphone permission: You can deny or revoke the microphone permission in Android settings. The app will still function but cannot detect ambient noise during calibration.
- Delete all data: Use Settings within the app to delete all test results and reset calibration.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
9) Security
Since HearWell operates entirely offline with no network communication, your data is protected by your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption). No data is transmitted over any network.
10) Children's privacy
HearWell includes a Children test mode designed for younger users. The app does not collect any personal information from children or any other users. No data is transmitted from the device. Parents can use the app to screen their children's hearing in a safe, private environment.
11) Health data disclaimer
HearWell is a hearing screening tool and is not a medical device. Test results are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a medical diagnosis. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional (audiologist, ENT specialist, or physician) for hearing concerns. The app does not provide medical advice, treatment recommendations, or clinical diagnoses.
12) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on our website at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/HearWell and update the effective date above.
