Privacy Policy — Halum
1) Who we are
Halum is provided by Saifullah Ahad ("we", "us", "our"). Our website is: https://saifullah.ai.
2) What this policy covers
Halum is a free storytelling app for children ages 3 to 12. This policy explains what information the app accesses, how that information is used, and the choices you have when you use Halum (the "App").
3) Information we collect
Halum is designed to collect as little information as possible. The App does not require accounts, sign-in, or personal profile details. The App does not include analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking SDKs.
The following information is stored only on your device:
- Reading progress (which page of which story you last opened)
- Favorites (stories you mark with the heart)
- Stories you have created with the in-app story creator
- App settings (font size, narration speed, language, theme, parental gate state, daily creation limit)
- Recent search terms you type into the in-app search
- Daily story-creation count (used to enforce the parental quota)
This data lives in the App's private storage on your device and is not transmitted off-device. Uninstalling the App removes it.
4) Information sent off-device
The only feature that uses the internet is creating a new story. When you tap "Create" on the story creator, the App sends your selections to the Google Gemini API so Gemini can generate the story text. The data sent is:
- Age group (Toddler, Early Reader, or Independent)
- Characters you picked (e.g., Rabbit, Astronaut, Fairy)
- Setting you picked (e.g., Forest, Ocean, Space)
- Lesson / category you picked (e.g., Kindness, Gratitude, Science)
- Length and language preference
The App does not send any name, email, phone number, location, device identifier, contact list, photos, or audio with these requests. The pre-loaded story library does not need internet access and works fully offline.
5) How we use information
- Provide the core App features: reading, narration, story creation, library, and search.
- Remember your reading progress and preferences between sessions.
- Enforce the parental daily creation limit (if you have set one).
6) Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade information.
The only third party that receives data from Halum is:
- Google Gemini API — receives the story-prompt selections listed in section 4 when you tap Create. Google's privacy policy applies to that processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Halum sends only the prompt selections; no personal information is included.
Halum does not include analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs. There are no other third-party recipients.
7) Permissions used
- Internet — used only to send the story-prompt to the Gemini API when you ask for a new story.
- Network state — used to show whether the device is online so the App can disable the Create button when offline.
Halum does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, storage, or any other permissions.
8) Data retention
Reading progress, favorites, generated stories, and settings remain on your device for as long as the App is installed. You can clear them at any time:
- Settings → Clear AI generated stories — removes stories you created.
- Settings → Clear reading history — removes progress and last-read records.
- Settings → Reset all settings — restores the App to defaults.
- Uninstalling the App removes all of its local data.
9) Your choices and controls
- Parental gate — enable to require a math problem before changing sensitive settings.
- Daily creation limit — set 5, 10, 15, or unlimited story creations per day.
- Content categories — toggle whether values-based categories appear in the library.
- Disable internet features — turn off your device's internet connection to use Halum offline; the pre-loaded library is fully usable that way.
- Deletion — see section 8.
10) Security
Network requests to the Gemini API use HTTPS. App data is stored in the App's private application sandbox on your device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but Halum minimizes what it stores and what it transmits.
11) Children's privacy
Halum is a children's app, designed for ages 3 to 12. The App is intended to be used by children with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We have designed Halum to follow the Designed for Families program principles:
- No advertising.
- No in-app purchases.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No accounts, sign-in, or personal profile collection.
- Minimal internet use, limited to the optional story-creation feature.
- Parental gate available for sensitive settings.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided information through the App that you would like removed, contact us using the details below. Because Halum does not collect personal information from children, there is generally nothing to remove beyond uninstalling the App.
12) International transfers
When you tap Create, the prompt selections are sent to Google's Gemini API, which may process the request on servers outside your country. Google's privacy policy describes how Google handles such transfers.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted at https://privacy.saifullah.ai/Halum with a new effective date.
