Bayan Privacy Policy

Welcome to Bayan, developed by Saifullah Ahad. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding your data when you use the Bayan offline AAC & speech app.

1. Introduction

Bayan is a 100% free and fully offline Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tool. It provides text-to-speech, live speech-to-text captions, and an editable phrase board. Privacy is at the core of our app: all core features function entirely locally on your device without the need for an internet connection.

2. Data We Collect

Bayan operates primarily offline, meaning we do not collect or store your daily usage data, speech text, or custom phrases on any external servers. The app only accesses specific device features and data as follows:

• Microphone Data: The app requests microphone access to provide live speech-to-text captions. This audio is processed entirely locally on your device by Android's built-in speech recognizer. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted to us.
• Feedback Data (Optional): If you choose to use the in-app "Send Feedback" feature, we collect the message content you write and your email address (if you choose to provide it) so we can respond to your inquiry.

3. How We Use the Data

We use the data strictly for the following purposes:

• Microphone Data: Used solely in real-time to generate captions on your screen.
• Feedback Data: Used solely to receive your bug reports, feature requests, or questions, and to reply back to you if an email was provided.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share data with a third-party service when explicitly triggered by you:

• Web3Forms: The in-app "Send Feedback" feature uses Web3Forms as a secure email relay to deliver your message to us. When you submit feedback, your message and optional email address are sent securely over HTTPS to Web3Forms, who forwards it to our developer inbox.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Since your phrases, preferences, and app data are stored locally on your device, you have full control over them. You can delete all your custom phrases directly within the app or clear the app's storage via your device settings.

Any feedback you send us via email is retained only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry. You may request the deletion of your feedback correspondence at any time by contacting us.

6. Children's Privacy

Bayan does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. All AAC and speech processing happens locally on the device, ensuring a safe experience. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us feedback with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete it immediately.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our app or for legal/regulatory reasons. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Effective Date" at the top.
